Part 4: Microsoft Viva: Learning & Knowledge At The Right Time

Updating skillsets is vital in organisations. Not only for the best of the actual organisation – but also the personal development of individuals. With continuous and relevant training, employees can get the knowledge they need to deliver great results in work and other areas of life.

Learning is especially important in organizations where best practices, technology, and processes change fast.

Viva Learning is a learning management platform that allows for both first and third-party learning content through a single interface. This makes keeping the knowledge level up easy while also giving you a clear overview of who has learned what.

Organisations can create learning content through Viva and add learning material from other companies – like Skillsoft, edX, or WorkPoint. Microsoft currently focuses on the big suppliers but will eventually open for smaller external parties.

This combination of Viva Learning and the other pillars is interesting, as it will ensure that employees learn new skills consistently – keeping their minds sharp and organisations fresh.

The Final Pillar: Topics

The last and final pillar of Microsoft Viva is Topics – a knowledge discovery tool that automatically curates content and finds experts related to that information.

Having the ability to find information and topic experts quickly is important but sometimes hard in larger companies.

Employees often don’t have time to go through each of the complex acronyms a company uses. With Topics, you don’t have to know them. Thanks to machine learning, Topics can scan a vast amount of content, find the information, and bring it back in an easy-to-understand, digestible way.

It works by finding information relating to search queries – sourcing from documents, links, and even people – making it much easier to locate information; makes for better collaboration and knowledge-sharing across an organisation.

The Viva Unity

Overall, Microsoft Viva is an important step towards the future of a digitised workplace. The four pillars of Connections, Insights, Viva Learning, and Topics are all connected, ensuring that organisations give their employees access to a personalised workplace experience platform.

But when will Microsoft Viva be released? Sadly, we don’t know – just that it will be very soon.

So, for now, all we can do is wait (with excitement!).
