One of our Dutch partners, I4-You has written a piece on how WorkPoint creates simplicity in SharePoint. The text shortly sums up what WorkPoint is all about, and how WorkPoint can save you hours of work when managing documents, e-mails and projects on SharePoint.
Anyone who has ever had to deal with SharePoint knows that this is a mighty beautiful environment to work in, but that it requires a lot of attention before, let’s say, you really feel at home in it.
SharePoint is often chosen because of its ability to store information centrally – in the cloud – so that you can then easily and safely share it with others. An additional big advantage of SharePoint is of course that it is part of Office 365. Therefore you can rest assured that the integration with packages such as Word and Excel has been properly taken care of. That’s not where the challenge lies, you might think.
But, in daily practice, it turns out that the logical and systematic storage of documents is often quite difficult to handle. The logical consequence of this is that the quick retrieval of documents can sometimes be quite a challenge. This is not least due to the fact that over the course of time we have taught ourselves a certain method of working, from which it is sometimes difficult to get away.
In recent years we have become quite used to explorer and map structures. You save a document in a folder. Sounds logical, right? And if you want to move it, simply drag it from one folder to another. But that turns out to work just that little bit differently in SharePoint.
Not that there is anything wrong with SharePoint, understand me well. I’ve been using WorkPoint Express for some time now. WorkPoint runs entirely under SharePoint, but as a user you don’t notice that much. This is because you can use this plug-in within your Office 365 packages such as Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint. From there, you can easily save your documents in or, and in the case of e-mail that is particularly handy, drag and drop them into the folder of your choice.
That may sound very simple, but it is. And if you want to use this solution in a project environment, or a contract- or a business-oriented administrative environment, for example, that’s no problem either.
The great thing about WorkPoint solutions is that most things have already been thought up and done for you. In short, with WorkPoint, you have a SharePoint solution that really works and that you can work with in no time.
